Nirvana MTV Unplugged heading to DVD on 18 Nov!
One of the most awaited musical performance is finally going to see the light of the day on DVD. According to Billboard, Universal Music will release Nirvana's MTV Unplugged in New York on 18 November, more than 13 years after it was released on CD.
This performance is arguably the most famous in the MTV Unplugged series, and it is especially significant because it revealed a different side of the band and surprised many people that Nirvana could actually pull this off. Cos Nirvana had been stereotyped as a loud and thrashy band that could only play loud, loud, loud. It just goes to show the strength of the compositions and the musicianship of Nirvana.

Like the CD, Something In The Way and Oh, Me are included here. These two songs were not included in the original MTV broadcast.
I haven't watched the original broadcast on MTV before. They should seriously bring back MTV Unplugged. Or at least air re-runs of past episodes. It's really a test of an artist's talent if they can make it in front of a live audience, stripped and raw.
The most recent one I caught was Alicia Keys' one. She's damn good and talented. I also quit elike the one The Corrs did a few years back.
I think MJ should definitely do one session, to show the world how good his voice and singing is. His acapella rendition of Who Is It on the Oprah interview in 1993 was so popular it resulted in the song being released as a single, when there weren't plans to do so. Think MJ will redeem himself, career-wise, if he does an Unplugged session.
Anyway, this is about Nirvana, and I can't wait to buy this DVD. They released the Live! Tonight! Sold Out! recently as well and I was damn happy. Next up will be a DVD of all their music videos and another DVD of one full concert. I can only wait.
